Textile Art Classes
Who are these classes for?
I have been teaching textiles art for many years, and have found it to be the most accessible art form for people who are unsure of their creative ability. There’s something wonderfully familiar and playful about working with fibres and fabrics. I am happy to work with all levels of experience. Groups are kept small in order that I have time to give individual attention to students.
What will you do on these classes?
These classes focus initially on teaching you basic craft skills. I usually focus on felt-making first as this is the most magical and easy media to master. I also teach batik, shibori dyeing, paper & silk paper-making, stitch, appliqué and embellishment. Classes begin with a demonstration, followed by loads of playful & creative hands-on time. Students create a wide variety of samples and finished pieces, ranging from framed artwork, to handmade cards, decorations and gifts. Materials are provided....so all you need to bring is a desire to enjoy!
“What I found so surprising was how Claire was able to mentor and guide so many different students at differing places in their artistic development ....she was a strong force offering direction with confidence” Andi 2009
Where are they, and how much do they cost?
Classes are run in Sennen, West Cornwall, although I love travelling and am happy to teach groups in other parts of the country/world....if you want to invite me!!
Costs vary according to type of workshop:
- Ongoing evening workshops in Sennen: from £10/session (minimum commitment to a block of 4 sessions)
- Day workshops: £40-£50 per person per day ( including materials and refreshments)
