Welcome!
My name is Claire Lucas. I have always been passionate about creativity, and have been living and working as an artist, teacher and workshop facilitator in West Cornwall for over 20 years.
"The Art of Ceremony" has evolved out of my interest in the celebratory, healing and growthful potential of creativity. In a world where "busyness" and materialism have become the norm, working creatively offers us the opportunity to reconnect to heart and soul; to add meaning to and make sense of our lives.
Everyone can be creative...it doesn't have to be a matter of talent or training; it can simply be about finding playful and heartful ways to express yourself. It is one of my greatest joys to support and witness this profound and enriching process; to find ways, to give space, to listen to soul-whispers.

News
As from September 2010 I will be establishing Lands End School of Art alongside Art of Ceremony, running a wide variety of courses and workshops in several venues in West Penwith. I hope that throughout 2011 and beyond the breadth of courses will increase, with a range of regular tutors and guest artists becoming involved. More news to follow in the new year.

"The Celebratory Quilt"
Starting in the Autumn, more details available early September.
"Nurturing the Nurturer"
A one day workshop run at least one Saturday per month throughout the year....an opportunity for parents, teachers, carers & service providers to replenish and restore through stillness, time in nature and heartful, self-nourishing creative activities. More details available on request.
Lands End School of Art:
Landscape Art
Tuesday afternoon course starts September 28th in Sennen. Aimed at beginners, but improvers welcome. This 10 week course will introduce you to a variety of different drawing and painting media, whilst exploring landscape as a subject matter. Colour, composition, realism and abstraction will be introduced in a relaxed and accessible way!! A perfect course for those wishing to see if they have an artist in them!
Recycling Textiles
Starting in the Autumn, more details available early September. A weekly course plus one-day workshops throughout the year. Learn skills that will enable you to mend and modify old clothes, refashion garments, make hair accessories, bags, jewellry etc, as well as cushions, quilts & furnishings....all from scraps and recycled materials.
All the above workshops are open to all levels of experience & artistic "ability"/confidence.
Advanced Textiles
Thursday evening course starts September 30th in Sennen. A 10 week textiles art course for people who already have a range of basic textiles skills and want to develop these further; exploring innovative ways of using textiles as art media, whilst also being supported and guided by an experienced tutor to develop ideas and find your "voice" as an artist.
